Aegean Region TurkeyDidyma; Nowadays, Didyma is a tourism center with a golden sand beach. The Temple of Artemis has remained a religious centre since it was founded. It has never been a settlement where the people lived. Didyma is Originally an ancient Greek sanctuary. Didyma refers to Apollo and Artemis and was connected to Miletus by a sacred road. The holy road was 20 km long and had marble covering. Persian King Darius 1 of Persia destroyed and looted the original Didyma temple in 494 BC. Afterwards, the Milesians built a new Hellenistic temple again in 313 BC. Modern experts believe the Apollon temple is an enormous and impressive structure and the third-largest temple of the Hellenistic period.
